~~~EVERYMAN  CELEBRATION ~~~

 

 

Often the primary images and portrayal of men in society is one where men have to be made change certain negative attitudes or anti social behaviour .

 

While true of some men ,rarely do we see or hear portrayed the positive images and impact that the majority of men who don't act in such ways make. Men's potential ,their strengths and the real contribution they make to society regularly goes unacknowledged .

 

In an attempt to highlight this and to validate men MAN wish to redress this balance by organising a celebration of everyman using mediums of words, pictures ,drama and song ,to mark all that is wholesome about men .

 

It is hoped that the celebration will offer ,in the same way as some of our past Fathers Day celebrations, the chance for men ,women and children to mark , celebrate and validate the man/men in their life and validate the unique contributions Males make to our society.

 

~~~RITES  OF  PASSAGE~~~

 

In a time when it seems the only work done with young men is that needed to offset their more destructive  or anti social nature ,MAN is seeking to  develop  a new “rites of passage” process for young men .

 

Our aim is to connect young men with a sense of more than  their self , to validate their uniqueness and also their connectedness with/to their community, their wider society and beyond.

 

The process will be built on models from around the world which have shown the need for the involvement and facilitation of male role models ,mentors, wise men , elders ,who will assist  young men to connect with their masculinity and their sense of what it is to be a man in today's world. .

 

Using  the collective wisdom of elders we aim to guide younger males through a process that explores who they are ,their unique and valuable presence and place in community and society ,and endorses the rights they have with the responsibilities that this also incurs .

 

One of steps in developing this work is to work with the men who will become the generation of elders/mentors of younger men and our LEGACY residentials offer the opportunity for men to sample who it feels for them to be a man and be valuable unique part of life and the world.  

Over the years MAN have always strived to meet the needs of men and boys and  their social experience and to address the more negative impacts that some men have on society.

We strive to develop various innovative and unique programmes and projects to meet and address these needs

~~~Towards Eradicating Abusive Relationships  ~~~

 

Domestic Abuse is a an all to familiar experience for many women ,and to a lesser degree men, in today's home environment and in personal relationships .

The often physically violent ,criminal act of abuse destroys the lives of many .

However and whatever the level of abuse ,by whoever perpetrates it ,it is wrong and MAN is currently looking to develop a programme that will adequately address the serious impact domestic abuse has on home .family and personal  relationships .

In the early stages of development MAN is seeking to  build partnerships and alliances, engage in training and set up adequate structures to develop a best practice module that will also use our own knowdlege and expertise in working with men to challenge the destructive impact of abuse in relationships of all kinds.
